Garba 2014

Venue: Marathi Medium School Ground

The PTA 2014-15 wanted to plan a grand surprise. It is said that “There are shortcuts to happiness and dancing is one of them” Dance is known to liberate and eventually lead you away from the stress and the humdrum of life. Thus, the idea of ‘Garba 2014’ was born.

Innumerable tasks lay ahead of us. There was arrangement of invites, circulars, venue, permissions, decorations, music, food and the works. The list seemed to be endless. The plan was neatly chalked out and we volunteered to take responsibilities. The first hurdle was arranging funds. We scouted around for sponsorships of prizes and banners from generous business owners and forthcoming parents who supported us. The Garba passes were lapped up in no time!!! The response was overwhelming. Expectations were building up.

So on 30th Sep 2014, with great excitement and anticipation lingering in the air, our Principal Mrs. Bhagat inaugurated ‘Garba 2014’ by praying to Goddess Durga and lighting a lamp. The ground looked invigorated with lights and decorations. The costumes were beautiful and eye-catching. The vibrant colours of Gujarat pepped up the ambience. Gujarati folk and bollywood music filled the air and feet started tapping to the beats automatically. Nobody cared how they danced. They just got up and danced. It was the passion, the attitude and the spirit which had to be celebrated and rewarded. Ms. Arpita Randive, a dance teacher and an expert dancer judged the event.

It all seemed so perfect till abruptly, there was a ‘kahani mein twist’. Rain gods suddenly decided to join in. The weather got stormy!! We thought we would have to call it a day!!! But we were surprised and relieved that teachers, parents and children did not let this dampen their spirits. The Principal Mrs. Bhagat and Supervisor Mrs. Dhurandhar guided us through the crisis. The venue was moved indoors in a jiffy while the crowd did justice to the stalls put up by enthusiatic caterers serving various cuisines.

A special mention and heartfelt appreciation to the Chief Guest Mr. Satish Rajwade, a writer, director and lyricist from the film industry, who inspite of his busy schedule and bad weather was a man of his word and attended the event. The winners were thrilled to receive their prize from a famous personality. The kids displayed great sportsmanship as they wildly cheered for their friends.

It was indeed a memorable evening unfazed by the small chaos created by the rains!!!! The PTA 2014-15 would like to thank everybody for their help and support. Keeping the spirit alive, we hope for many more such events to follow!

Teacher's Day Celebration

Date: - 5th September, 2014
Time: - 12:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Venue: - School Hall

The Teacher's day was celebrated with great valour and jubiliance in the school. The students put their heart and soul to make their beloved teachers feel special and overwhelmed. The students had put up a small programme in order to make the day memorable for the teachers.

This programme was followed by Prime Minister, Mr. Narendra Modi's speech which was telecast live from New Delhi. It was an interactive session wherein the Prime Minister narrated instances from his student life and gave some important guidelines for the students to imbibe.

Parents talk: -

When we got appointed as the Class Representatives & PTA members, we were a group of unknown, unfamiliar faces but bound together by a common goal. The goal was to see PTV ICSE School scaling new heights, our children achieving his/ her dreams and turning out to be good & responsible human beings.

This common thread was to bind us together in the days to follow and create this wonderful group of happy people looking forward to join hands with the school and create opportunities for the children leading to happiness

It is said that “it is utterly impossible to be happy without being grateful”. So we couldn’t think of a better emotion to celebrate other than’Thankfulness’. So ‘Teachers day celebrations’ was to be our inaugural activity and a way to express gratitude

So like a group of busy ants, we all got to work. Brainstorming sessions were rampant. One idea led to another and Voila! There was our teacher’s day plan for 5th Sep 2014.

When the day arrived anxiety and excitement took over. After a super-entertaining programme put forth by the students, we all gathered in the school library where the Principal Mrs. Bhagat, Supervisor Mrs. Dhurandhar, the teachers and office staff were cordially invited.

A spread of a yummy meal was laid out which the teachers could relish. We also distributed small souvenirs of the event with a little message from the students of PTV ICSE to all their teachers. The teachers were very warm and friendly and they enjoyed the get-together.

The Principal thanked us profusely for this function calling it ‘A wonderful gesture’. We are glad we could find a way to express our feelings though it remains that ‘ A Teacher is a person who one can never thank enough.
