Orientation for parents of Grade VIII

Venue: Auditorium

Date: 3rd December, 2015

An orientation for parents of grade 8 for the selection group 3 and group 3 subjects was conducted on 3rd December 2015 by the Principal Mrs. Arnavaz Bhagat. The Parents were guided about the subjects to be selected for Grade 9 and Grade 10.

The following points were discussed:

1.The Principal informed the parents that the group 1(compulsory subjects) consists of three papers English Literature and Language, 2nd language Hindi/ Marathi, Social Studies History and geography.

Group 2 consist of 2 papers Mathematics (compulsory), Science (physics, Chemistry and Biology) / Commercial Studies.

Group 3 consist of 1 paper Technical Drawing/ Commercial Application/ Arts/ Computer application/ Physical Education.

If a child selects commercial studies in group2 then he/ she will not be able to select commercial application in group 3.

2. The principal introduced group 2 and group 3 teachers to the parents.

3. Teachers of group 2 and group 3 briefed the parent about their subject.

4. Parents clarified their doubts with the subject teachers

5. Session ended with the vote of thanks by Mrs Jayalalita Nyayapati

Mathematics Workshop

Venue: Sea Princess Hotel, Juhu

A training and capacity building workshiop was organized by the Podar Group. The speakers were Nirmala Shastri and Ragini Malhotra. In the first session various innovative methods of quick calculation were explained. In the second session, The various problems of the pupil who have fear for Math and the innovative suggestions and techniques were discussed. Resource person suggested that in the Primary section there should be many activities and games organized for the pupil for the better understanding of Various important concepts. It was very good workshop as we learned many interesting things in this workshop.


English Workshop

Venue: Sea Princess Hotel, Juhu

A training and capacity building workshiop was organized by the Podar Group. The speakers were Nandini Pal and Gita Pandya. The first session was conducted by Nandini Pal. The resource person was well versed win her subject. She cautioned the teachers about the changing trends in children and society. A P.P.T. was shown to highlight how internet and social media have overtaken the society in recent times. The second session began with the introduction of the Shikshan Team by Norina Fernandes. Gita Pandya conducted the Second Session of the workshop. She emphasised the role of English teachers in enhancing the reading, writing, speaking and listening skills of children at various levels. A wide variety of appropriate material should be made available to motivate children to learn English.

Children's Day and Diwali party Celebration

Venue: School Auditorium

Date: 6th November, 2015

On the occasion of the birth anniversary of Pr. Nehru, students presented a Special Assembly. The program began by paying homage to our beloved leader Pt. Nehru, who loved children very much. Thus to mark his love for the children this day is celebrated as Children's Day or 'Baal Diwas'. The programme began with foot tapping song presented by the students and short speech underlying the importance of being happy and to follow the right path.

To add the splendour of the day teachers sang, acted and danced to entertain the children. Children's joy and happiness knew no bounds as they witnessed their teachers in action on the stage. The performance of teachers was a great surprise to the students. They clapped and swayed to the music, true to the words of the Father of the Nation, who said "If we wish to create lasting peace, we must begin with children". Students also enjoyed the movie - Mr. Sherman and the Peabody.

Diwali, the festival of lights, was also celebrated in the school with full gusto and enthusiasm. Tastefully decorated school campus added charm and religious fervour to the atmosphere as the students dressed up in colourful attire enchanted one and all. Before the dispersal students enjoyed the sumptuous snacks. The programme ended on a happy note.

The 8th Annual Sports Meet, 2015

The 8th Annual Sports Meet for the Academic year 2015-16 was held on Sunday, 1st November, 2015 in Parle Tilak Vidyalaya Marathi Medium School Ground. The Chief Guest present for the day was Mrs. Sonali Vig, a National Cricket Player. Other dignitaries present on the day were Principal, Mrs. Arnavaz Bhagat and the Supervisors Mrs. Maya Dhurandhar and Mrs. Jayalalita N.

The Chief Guest was welcomed with the Guard of Honour who hoisted the School Flag and declared the Sports Meet open. This was followed by March Past and Oath Ceremony. After all the races and events the Best March Past result was declared by the Principal which was won by Savarkar (Blue) house. Tagore House (Yellow) won the trophy of the Best House. The Principal also declared the Champion of the Champions for boys and girls. Among the boys the Champions trophy was bagged by Viraj Pandit of Grade X, Tagore House and the Girl Champion was won by Abhita Gokhale of Grade X from Savarkar House.

The Supervisor Mrs. Dhurandhar proposed the Vote of Thanks.

Mock Parliament Session

Date : 20th October, 2015

A circular under the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment was sent to all the schools affiliated to the Council for the ICSE by the Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Foundation.

A nation-wide celebration of the 125th Birth Anniversary of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar from April 1st 2015 to April 1st 2016 has been organised. A national committee under the Chairmanship of our Honourable Prime Minister has been set up.

In the debate conducted a special emphasis was laid on the Constituent Assembly with the Treasury Bench and five opposition Parties. A Bill 'MAKE IN INDIA' was passed by them with the Speaker having an important role. The students from other grades constituted the gallery of the House. It was an interesting and very interactive experience to give the students the first-handed experience of the Parliamentary Procedures.

An Educational Field Trip to Magic Eco Park in Wada (Thane)

Date : 16th October, 2015

The school had organized an Educational Field Trip for the students of Grades VI, VII and X. The students actively participated in the following activities:

  • Dynamic Course DCC with hurdles and obstacles
  • Burma Bridge a rope way
  • Commando Ladder
  • Warli Painting
  • A trail to Mango and Chickoo Orchards

There was a cowshed with 150 cows of special breed from Gir forest in Gujrat. This eco forest also supplies milk and medicinal plants to the villages nearby. Students had a wonderful time and enjoyed all the activities.

Educational Tour to Panchgani and Mahabaleshwar

Date : 15 th October, 2015 to 17th October, 2015 (Grade IX)

Date : 21st October, 2015 to 23rd October, 2015 (Grade VIII)

The school had arranged a fun filled Educational Tour to Panchgani and Mahabaleshwar for the students. The students were provided with the best of facilities like the AC Deluxe coaches for travelling, accomodation in a star category hotel with modern amenities, vegetarian and non-vegetarain buffet meals along with snacks and soft drinks. The students enjoyed themselves throughout the trip.

Vaachan Prerna diwas or Reading day

Date : 15 th October, 2015

No school bag day

As per the directives of the Maharashtra Education Department, a series of programmes were conducted to commemorate the birthday of Dr. A.P.J. Kalam in the school. It was observed as a no school bag day. Children were instructed to bring a story book on 14th October and keep it in the school.

Facts about Kalam's life were read out. Vocabulary words that were chosen were related to Kalam like missile, aerodynamics, visionary and integrity. Dr Abdul Kalam possessed great values and qualities such as simplicity, integrity, wisdom and knowledge. These qualities were depicted through a meticulously done PPT by the teachers in charge. The students read out the matter and emphasised the fact that Dr Abdul Kalam was an embodiment of these values inherited from his parents and teachers. Abdul Kalam led an exemplary life . There are very few people like him in today's generation.

The life of Dr APJ Abdul Kalam was presented through a skit. As the life history of Dr. Kalam was narrated, students enacted incidents from his life right from his childhood to the time when he was sworn in as the 11th President of India.

VENUE: Green Lawns School, Worli

Green Lawns School (Worli) had organised an Inter-school Poetry Recitation on 1st October, 2015 (Thursday). All the ICSE Schools across the city were invited for the same.

Parle Tilak Vidyalaya (ICSE) also participated in the programme.  Students of Std VI to Std VIII were prepared and trained by Ms. Tripti Iyer and Ms. Nisha Yadav. The poem presented was: ‘The Frog and the Nightingale’ by Vikram Seth.

Hindi Day

Date : 29th September 2015

Hindi day was celebrated on 29th September. The programme began with Ganesh vandana and continued with a speech, Dohe and thoughts for promoting and supporting hindi language . The students performed a skit and sang a song in Hindi. The programme ended with the vote of thanks.

Mass assembly on Ganesh Chaturthi

Date : 29th September 2015

A mass assembly was conducted by the students of grade VI B in the school auditorium on 29th September 2015. The assembly was conducted for students of the primary and secondary section in presence of our principal Mrs. Arnavaz Bhagat and our supervisor Mrs. Maya Dhundhar.

The assembly was based on Ganesh Chaturthi. The assembly began with a speech enlightening on the importance of Ganesh Chaturthi. The students chanted “Atharva Shirsha ” ( prayers of Lord Ganesha). The students performed a devotional song and highlighted on the importance of eco-friendly Ganeshotsav by mentioning few tips on the making of ganesh idols, decoration used and the immersion of ganesh idols. A dance was performed by the students. The assembly ended with a vote of thanks.

Field trip for students of III, IV and V

Date: 22nd September, 2015

The students of std III, IV and V were taken to Nehru Planetarium and Taraporewala Aquarium. The students enjoyed the field trip. There was a talk on planets, stars, comets, sun, asteroids etc. The students actively participated in the session and listened to the explanation about the planetary system with great enthusiasm. They also witnessed the show entitled “Wonders of the Universe”. The movement of planets, Earth, Sun shown through visual effects enthralled the children. The narration was very clear. It was a pleasant experience to all the students who wanted to learn about astronomy.

The second place to visit was the Taraporewala Aquarium. Children enjoyed observing various species of fishes displayed in large water tanks. The aquarium had a variety of fishes including marine and fresh water fishes. Children enjoyed the field trip thoroughly and learnt a lot about the planets, Earth as well as fishes.

The AISM Quiz Competition was hosted by Podar International School in Nerul on 9th September. Forty Seven schools participated in the junior category. The participants from Parle Tilak Vidyalaya (ICSE) were Joanne Johnson(grade X) and Sinikta Joshi (Grade X)

On the occasion of the Teacher's Day, the students greeted their teachers with flowers, the school premises were decorated with balloons by the P.T.A. Members. The assembly was conducted by the students of Grade X. The students had taken a lot of effort to put up a special programme for teachers in the school hall.


The Story telling Competition for Std I& II was conducted on 25-8-15 in the school hall. The judges were Mrs. Mrudula Pradhan and Mrs N Jayalalita.

The theme for the assembly was ‘Friendship'. The assembly began with Sanskrit shlok on Friendship and its explanation.

This year Ashadi Ekadashi was celebrated on 27th July '15 in our school auditorium with a lot of enthusiasm. It is on the eleventh day of Ashad Month that thousands of devotees travel to the pious Pandharpur to pray to lord vithal, Sant Dnayaneshwar and Sant Tukaram. All devotees chant prayers and whole atmosphere is full of joy. Students also celebrated this festival with equal energy and fervour and created a similar environment in school. Students from Std I to IX participated whole heartedly in the songs, dance and drama and finally the Dindi March through the school corridors.

The assembly was conducted for students of the primary section [Std I to Std V], in the presence of our Principal Mrs Bhagat and our supervisor Mrs Dhurandar.

The theme for the mass assembly was ‘Reduce Reuse and Recycle' (3R's). The students presented a skit on the theme which showcased a family that goes on a garbage diet. The youngest of the family educates her teenage sister about ways to reduce reuse and recycle waste.

The assembly was based on the topic ‘Values'. The mass assembly was in the form of a short skit. which exhibited Values.

A Mass Assembly was held in the school auditorium on the 17th July 2014, by the students of standard IX. The theme was the Three R's i.e. Recycle, Reduce and Reuse. The Principal, Mrs. Bhagat Supervisor Mrs. Dhurandhar, teachers and students of the secondary school attended the event.

A mass assembly was conducted by the students of class VIII A in the school hall on 31st July 2015. The assembly was conducted for students of the secondary section [V – X] in the presences of our principal Mrs. Bhagat and our supervisor Mrs. Dhaurandar.

The assembly was based on the topic ‘Respect for teachers' (Guru Purnima). The assembly began with the sholk in Sanskrit with the explanation in English. The multimedia presentation was presented by students on importance of Guru Purnima and quiz was asked on same. The quiz was followed by a short skit.


The Frank Anthony Memorial All India Inter-School Debate Championship was hosted by St. John's Universal School, Goregaon (W) on Wednesday, 15th July, 2015. Twelve schools participated in the debate. The topic for the same was “Competition leads to the death of human relationship”. The judges for the competition were Mrs. Usha Pandit, an eminent educationist, Mrs. Mamta Dua, Trinity College London (Trainer) and Mrs. Vashi Rai. Inter-house Quiz Competition was held in the School Auditorium. The quiz had various rounds with interesting questions. They are as follows:

DATE: 25th JUNE, 2015

The selection round for the Inter-House Debate was conducted on the 17th June, 2015, by the teachers in-charge and respective House Mistresses. The best students were selected for the second elimination round. This was held on the 23rd June, 2015. The topic was "Television is the only source of entertainment for the urban children". Savarkar House (Blue) bagged the Third Position and Nehru House (Red) in the Fourth Position. Naidu House (Green) and Tagore House (Yellow) qualified to face each other for the Final round.
The Final round of Debate was held on the 25th June, 2015. Naidu House (Green) supported the topic which was "Should examination system be the only tool to test one's intelligence" whereas the Tagore house (Yellow) stood against the motion.
The Principal Mrs. Bhagat and the Supervisor Mrs. Dhurandhar were present on the occasion and also judged the debate. They were happy to announce the result. The winning house was the Naidu House (Green) and Tagore House (Yellow) stood in the Second Position. Mrs. Pradhan proposed the vote of thanks.

MASS ASSEMBLY Presented by the students of Grade V A
DATE: 23rd JUNE, 2015

A mass assembly was presented by the students of Grade V A. They presented the National news, the International news, the Sports news, a Quiz, a few Amazing facts about Music and the 'Thought for the day'. The theme of the assembly was Music. Ms. Saamiksha Palekar highlighted the importance of the 'World Music Day'. Kalyani Ranade, Saaniya Joshi, Atharva Kunte and Rooshika Rajyadhyaksha presented a song which was a melodious confluence of Sa-Re-Ga-Ma and Do-Re-Mi. Parth played teen taal, uthaam and bhajani theka on the table.
Nikhil Date presented the 'Ode to joy' a poem written by Friedrich Schiller. The words of which were a part of the 9th Symphony by Beethoven. The assembly concluded by playing of the Hedwig's Theme on the synthesizer.
Music generates a harmonious melodious sound

Music spreads the spirit of joy
Through the mass assembly, the students got an opportunity to bring out the importance of music and present different forms of music.

International Yoga Day
DATE: 21st JUNE, 2015

Yoga is an invaluable gift of ancient Indian tradition. It embodies unity of mind, thought and action, restraint and fulfilment. It brings sense of oneness with ourselves, the world and nature.

The honourable Prime Minister of India Shri Narendra Modi urged the World Community to adopt an International Day of Yoga on 11th December, 2014. 193 members of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) approved the proposal by consensus with a record 177 co-sponsoring countries, a resolution to establish 21st June as “International Day of Yoga”.

We at Parle Tilak Vidyalaya (ICSE) have incorporated yoga as a part of our regular school curriculum from Std I to Std VI.

On occasion of the “First International Yoga Day” (International Day of Yoga-IDY), Vile Parle organised “Yoganubhav” workshops for Parle Tilak Vidyalaya (ICSE) students on Sunday 21st June, 2015 in the school auditorium.

Our Yoga teacher Mrs Medha Ambardekar along with Ms Deepali Dandekar and Mrs Alpa Doshi conducted the workshops with help of demonstrators and volunteers. The excitement and enthusiasm of participating children, teachers, demonstrators and volunteers was overwhelming.

Every workshop started with a prayer to condition the mind for further yogic practices.

The sessions proceeded with warming up exercises, asanas and pranayama.

The standing asanas included Tadasana, Ekapadasana, Hastapadasana, Konasana, Veerasana, etc. While sitting asanas practiced were Parvatasan, Ushtrasana, Bhadrasana, Shashankasana, etc. Children also learnt new lying down asanas like Halasana, Shalabhasana, Sarvangasan. The simple pranayama i.e. Pranakarshan was enjoyed by all.

The students were also briefed about the various benefits of each yogic practice, the importance of eating Sattvic, Rajasi, Tamasik food and its effects on the body and mind. Students then shared their experiences such as some felt relaxed, some refreshed, some calm, some even said that they felt energetic.

The sessions ended with Shantipath and Sankalpa and this was followed by serving of a healthy snacks.

Students dispersed with a promise to continue their practice of yogasanas, making it a part of their daily routine.

DATE: 18th JUNE, 2015

The Investiture Ceremony was held on 18th June 2016 (Thursday) in the school auditorium. The students of Grade VI-X witnessed the Ceremony. Our Principal, Mrs. Arnavaz Bhagat and the Supervisor Mrs. Maya Dhurandhar, graced the occasion by their presence. The parents of the prefectorial body also witnessed the Ceremony for the first time. The Ceremony began with a slow march by the last year's prefectorial body and the newly elected Council members. The previous year's prefectorial body handed over the School Flag and Sashes to our sports teacher. Principal madam and the Supervisor presented the School Flag to the newly elected Council members. This was followed by the Oath taking Ceremony for the Head Girl, Sports Captain and House captains. Shivani Manohar, the newly elected Head Girl of the School accepted the responsibilities from Avani Phansalkar.
Our Principal addressed the students and made them aware of their duties and responsibilities. She stressed on "Actions speak louder than words". The former Head Girl shared her experiences and the newly elected Head Girl spoke about the goals set by the new members. The ceremony concluded with a vote of thanks given by Mrs. Mrudula Pradhan.

On the reopening day after the summer vacation, the school arranged for a grand felicitation programme of the students of Grade X who had appeared for the ICSE Board Examination 2014-2015. They had scored extremely well having Seven All India subject toppers.
The programme started with the morning assembly presented by students of current Std. X. Thereafter, the Principal Mrs. Bhagat, announced the students names and they were presented with flower bouquets. Each student shared his/her experiences and their learning strategies with their fellow students. They also expressed their gratitude to the Principal and their teachers for guiding them.

Board Exam 2015
Our First batch of Std. X students appeared for their ICSE board exam in March 2015. The results were declared on 18th May, 2015 on the CISCE website. Our Students did extremely well and we at Parle Tilak Vidyalaya ICSE, feel honoured that our school students have featured in the All India Toppers list.
The combined effort of the teachers and students along with the support of the parents has definitely helped in making this achievement so commendable.

The academic year 2015-2016 started with a wonderful event. 'Food Fiesta'. For the first time, this event was held on the school ground. The joint efforts of the Principal, Supervisor, PTA, School Management, staff, students and support staff resulted in a grand success. Children were eagerly waiting for a break as well as their summer vacation.

Planning, organising and executing are key elements for the successful accomplishment of any event. The Principal motivated the students and guided them to involve them in this fun fair. The teachers actively participated and encouraged students by assigning duties to them. Children put forth their ideas in decorating the stalls. Every one had a great time including the children who were busy collecting coupons and selling food with an eye on their collection. Every stall had a name ofits own. e.g. Candilicious, china town, game zone, fun world, etc.

The chief guest of the evening Shri Vitthal Kamat, CMD Kamat Hotels (I) Ltd. along with the Principal, visited the stalls and encouraged both students and teachers. Children had a wonderful time dancing and enjoying music, eating delicious food and playing games.

A workshop was conducted for the teachers by Ms. Anupama Gupta, the co-ordinator of Intel Galileo Development Board in Schools. Ms. Gupta introduced the effective way of using Intel Development Boards in schools. She explained the different ways in which the creativity and imagination of the students could be enhanced. The use of Intel Galileo Development Boards provide a tool for innovative teaching. The workshop was appreciated by the teachers.

Satyanarayan Pooja and Inauguration of the Auditorium

The inauguration of the auditorium as held on 31st March, 2015. This occassion was graced by the members of the management committee. It was followed by the Satyanarayan Pooja in the new hall.

The Pooja started at 8:30 am and ended at 10:30 am. The entire teaching and non-teaching staff were present for the pooja.

The management, Principal and teachers of P.T.V. Association came for darshan and prasad. The pooja was followed by delicious lunch for all the staff members.

Grade I Orientation
Date: 26th March, 2015

An orientation for parents of Grade I for the academic year 2015-2016 was conducted by the Principal Mrs. Arnavaz Bhagat. The parents were introduced to their respective class teachers.

The following points were discussed: -
  1. The Principal highlighted the aims and objectives of the school
  2. Co-curricular activities such as yoga, karate, P.T., dance and music conducted by the school
  3. Importance of Good behavior, health and hygience
  4. Short power point presentation showing a glimpse of the working of the school followed by short question and answer session in which few doubts of the parents were cleared

Farewell party for the outgoing students of Grade X
Date: 24th March, 2015

Out of sheer love, affection and respect, the students of Grade IX planned and organized a grand farewell party for their seniors, the batch of outgoing Grade X 2014-2015. This was held in the school hall. The Principal, Mrs. A. Bhagat, supervisor Mrs. M. Dhurandhar and the teachers and students of Grade IX and X attended the party. The chief guest for the day was Mr. Arvind Mogre who is an award winning film maker beside being an actor, producer and editor.

A short cultural programme by students of Grade IX was followed by the selection of the best student based on their confidence and poise. Mr. Mogre, the chief guest, judged the competition and crowned Shriya Marathe as Miss Parle Tilak and Kedar Sane as Mr. Parle Tilak.

Each student was presented a souvenir which was a coffee mug with their class photograph to remind them of their good time in school. Sumptious lunch followed by dancing to catchy music concluded the memorable morning.

Trip to Goa
Date: 26th to 28th March, 2015

Students of Grade X went for a fun filled trip to Goa. Students visited St. Francis Church, Kalangut beach, Spice garden and Naval Museum
It was indeed a memorable trip.

ICSE Board Exams 2015

Our First batch of students appeared for their ICSE Board Examination from 26th February to 23rd March, 2015. Their centre was our school hall itself which had been well prepared to conduct these exams.

The Principal along with the external examiners ensured the smooth conducting of the examination.

Marathi Diwas Celebration
Date: 16th February, 2015

Marathi Diwas was celebrated with a lot of enthusiasm in the school hall. This day commemorates the birth anniversary of the eminent poet Kusumagraj Mr. V. V. Shirvadkar who is not only a recepient of the Gyanpeeth award but also been honoured with the Padma Bhushan. As a mark of respect to his contribution to Marathi Literature, we celebrate this day all over Maharashtra.

In our school, the presentation was done with a difference. The nine emotions, based on the background of Marathi Literature were incorporated and displayed to the audience. Emotions ranging from anger,laughter, sadnessm bravery, hatred, fear, beauty, miractulous and peace were shown to the audience through dance, dramatization, singing, recitation etc.

The morning ended with a very encouraging speech by the Principal to the participants and the audience.
